Emily has her Masters in English and Theatre Arts Education from Virginia Tech. She is a full-time high school English teacher by day, and a voracious play reader by night.
In 2009, she spent time in New York working with the LABryinth Theatre in their summer intensive program. There she collaborated with other ensemble members in writing and producing an original work, Sunday Mourning at Centerstage Theatre in NY.
Being an east coast native, Emily enjoys hitting the city during her summers. There she spends time seeing new works, reading new scripts, and eating lots and lots of bagels. (That’s bread in the shape of donuts for you Arizona folk).
Emily has had the pleasure of performing with Stray Cat, Nearly Naked Theatre, The Orpheum (Phoenix), Tempe Little Theatre, Chyro, Is What It Is, Mesa Encore, CCT, Stagebrush, Do Good Theatre, State Your Name Theatre Company, and performed in independent productions at Desert Rose, Mesa Arts Center, Tempe Center for the Arts, the Summer Arts Festival of Blacksburg, VA, and Tempe City Hall.
Always a strong advocate of educational outreach, Emily has taught with Childsplay, Emitt Theatre Camp, assisted seminars at the Chandler Center for the Arts, and facilitated a writing workshop for actors, and directors in New York City.
